Paula Cortazar is a dynamic artist whose roots in photography and visual arts trace back to her comprehensive education and early recognition. Graduating with honors in 2014 from the University of Monterrey, her academic journey included a pivotal stay in 2012 at the prestigious Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, France.

Paula's exploration into the depths of contemporary photography began in earnest with her selection for the Contemporary Photography Program (PFC) by the Fototeca de Nuevo León in 2013. This early accolade set the stage for her burgeoning career, leading to solo exhibitions at Machete Gallery in Mexico City in the years 2015, 2017, and 2020. Her work, celebrated for its innovative approach and depth, has graced numerous group exhibitions both in Mexico and internationally.

Highlights of her career include participation in notable exhibitions such as “Registro 05” at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey and “+52 Paisajes Recientes” at Fundación CALOSA in Guanajuato. Her international reach extended to the “Proyectos Unidos Mexicanos” at the Wythe Hotel in New York, marking her influence across borders.

Paula's accolades are numerous, having been awarded the prestigious Beca Jóvenes Creadores by the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes for two terms, reflecting national recognition of her artistic contributions. Her artistic prowess was further affirmed by her first prize at the 5th Photography Contest of the University of Monterrey library in 2013 and an honorable mention at the “Sin Categoría” exhibition by the Casa de la Cultura de San Pedro in 2012.

Represented by Machete Gallery in Mexico City and Nosco Gallery in Marseille, France, Paula continues to push the boundaries of visual arts, creating works that are not only visually compelling but also deeply introspective, inviting viewers to a unique visual journey through her lens.
